Ellen Brandell is a first year PhD student in Ecology studying disease dynamics of the Yellowstone National Park wolf population. Current research indicates wolf populations are regulated by prey availability, yet disease outbreaks have had major consequences on population dynamics. Her research focuses on understanding how disease regulates a large carnivore population and subsequently impacts the food web. Ellen spends her free time hiking, camping, and mountain biking in Montana.
